Sorrentino to make film with Michael Caine
(ANSA) – Rome, November 5 – Italian film director and screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino on Tuesday said he would make a film with British Oscar-winning actor Michael Caine.
“I will film a movie with Michael Caine and it will be called ‘In the Future’,” Sorrentino said.
“I confirm (the news), but will not add anything else,” Sorrentino continued.
Italian production company Medusa, part of the Mediaset media empire controlled by ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi’s family, announced the film for 2015.
The film is to be shot in the US and Italy. Sorrentino’s film about a jaded culture critic in Rome called “La Grande Bellezza” (“The Great Beauty”) is Italy’s Academy Award candidate for this year’s Best Foreign Film.
Caine, 80, has been nominated for an Oscar six times. He won twice for his supporting actor roles in the 1986 film Hannah and Her Sisters and the 1999 film The Cider House Rules.
